Douglas, South Umpqua compete in consolation on final day of Oregon Classic

REDMOND — Douglas and South Umpqua competed in the consolation bracket in Class 3A during the final day of the Oregon Classic wrestling tournament on Saturday at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center.

The Trojans lost to Irrigon 59-16 in the consolation final. Douglas earlier defeated Riverside 43-30 and downed Creswell 47-33.

The Lancers lost 66-12 to Irrigon and fell 38-27 to Vale.

Jacob Huse (138 pounds) posted a fall, while Kadin Baker (182) scored a technical fall versus Irrigon. Clayton Hatcher (113) won by fall, Tye Cross (132) won by major decision and Huse (145) won by decision against Riverside.

Cross (132), Kolby Lavin-Williams (170), Jesse Brecht (195) and Noah Knight (220) scored falls, and Huse (138) won by technical fall versus Creswell.

Jackson Markham (145) and Cajun Simmons (160) both scored falls for S.U. against Irrigon. Markham pinned his foe in 16 seconds.

Markham (145) and Zachery Downard (285) posted falls versus Vale, with Downard sticking his opponent in 25 seconds. Devyn Lincecum (132) won by decision.
