Spraying for Mosquitoes in Longmont Set for Thursday Night
Vector Disease Control International, Longmont’s mosquito control contractor, will be spraying to kill mosquitoes in 13 areas of the city on Thursday night, weather permitting.
That “adulticide fogging” or the pesticide spraying, is done whenever West Nile Virus-positive mosquitoes have been discovered in Larimer, Boulder or Weld counties and when Longmont mosquito traps exceed 100 mosquitoes.
Longmont areas scheduled for spraying on Thursday night include the Jim Hamm Nature Area, Mountain View Cemetery, The Shores/Concord Way, Twin Peaks Circle, Sandstone Ranch, Union Reservoir, Great Western / Mill Village, St. Vrain Greenway, Lefthand Creek at Creekside, Longmont Meadowview, Stoney Ridge/Alpine Elementary, Izaak Walton Park, and the Rough and Ready Ditch.
The boundaries of those areas can be found on the city’s West Nile virus mosquito control web page — tinyurl.com/yakpdzzb — along with other information about steps to prevent getting infected with the mosquito-borne disease.
