Critter Dinner raises funds for families in need
DUNBAR — The 45th annual Critter Dinner was served in Dunbar on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Dunbar Recreation Center.
For $5 a plate and a bit of courage, adventurous eaters could try turtle soup, shark bites, mountain oysters and crawfish along with all the fixings to go with them.
Folks could also donate five canned goods to feast at the buffet, which might or might not have included “anything that walks on four legs, crawls or swims. If it can be boiled, sauteed, smoked or fried (and meets the standards of the Charleston Kanawha County Health Department’s standards), you may possibly find it on the buffet,” event planners said in a news release.
All proceeds from the annual Critter Dinner go to the Dunbar Institute Samaritan Center.
The Center is a non-profit organization from the Dunbar and Institute area and assists hundreds of families within the area.
