Texas man facing additional sex-related charges in Wake County, authorities say
A registered sex offender from Texas is now facing additional charges in Wake County, authorities said.
Robert Strickland was arrested in Texas on Wednesday and was brought to North Carolina to face charges he took indecent liberties with a minor.
Charges against Strickland date back to the 1990s, and authorities in Holly Springs say they have uncovered evidence that could lead to many more.
Investigators said Strickland was visiting family in the area when the crimes were committed between 2015 to 2017. He is accused of indecent liberties and statutory sex offense against a child.
In a case in 1993 in Texas, Strickland was convicted of indecency with a 6-year-old and aggravated sexual assault of children who were 7 and 5, according to court records.
Authorities in Holly Springs say they have passed information they uncovered to officials in Texas that could result in more charges.
Strickland remains in the Wake County jail under a $2 million bond.
Strickland is due back in court on November 19.
