Veterans to be honored on Nov. 13
FAIRLAND— Fairland West Elementary is holding a special program to honor local area veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 9 a.m. within the school on 110 Township Road 1125, Proctorville, Ohio.
Students have invited their families to attend. Any family member who has served or is currently on active duty with the U. S. Military is especially welcome to attend the event honoring their sacrifices.
Susan Dunfee, music teacher will conduct a musical tribute performed by one hundred and forty Fourth Grade students.
The school’s principal, Teresa Johnson, has announced a special tribute is scheduled to be paid to Dean Cooper who was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame on Thursday, Nov. 8, in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Cooper served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Dean joined the Huntington Publishing Company and dedicated 44 years to the company. He was a Rome Township Trustee for 33 years. Dean is a life member of VFW Post 6878 and has been a contributing member for 49 years. For his many years of community service, the Ohio Department of Veteran’s Services and Col. Chip Tansill, Director acknowledge Dean with this special recognition.
