Fort Mohave man arrested in assault on officer
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies were patrolling near a Fort Mohave business Tuesday, after several burglaries were recently reported at the location. As deputies approached the business, the report said, they observed a man and woman entering the property on foot. Deputies contacted the man, who they allegedly recognized as Fort Mohave resident Tyler M. Gaul, 28, from prior encounters with law enforcement.
According to the report, Gaul attempted to flee, and deputies tried to grab him. Gaul allegedly struck one deputy in his face and head, and a struggle ensued. Gaul attempted several times to push himself away from the deputy without success, the report said. After several minutes, the deputy was able to subdue Gaul and place him in handcuffs.
A search of Gaul’s person allegedly revealed 1.3 grams of methamphetamine, one gram of marijuana, a glass pipe and assorted drug paraphernalia. Gaul was charged with aggravated assault on an officer, resisting arrest, marijuana possession, dangerous drug possession, narcotic drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The deputy allegedly attacked by Gaul sustained minor injuries, and was treated at a nearby hospital, the report said. Gaul also received minor injuries, and was treated by medical personnel at the scene before he was transported to Mohave County Jail. According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation of the case is ongoing.
