Colorado construction workers trapped in collapsed trench
WINDSOR, Colo. (AP) — Rescuers in Colorado are working to free two construction workers who became trapped when a trench collapsed.
The Coloradan reports that the Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue service has been able to communicate with one of the men who were trapped after a 15-foot-deep (about 5 meters) trench collapsed at a work site near northwest Windsor.
A department official says crews began working to dig the men out around 2:20 p.m., and at 4:45 p.m. said their rescue from the site about 17 miles (27 kilometers) from Fort Collins could still be hours away.
The newspaper reports that 30 people from area rescue agencies have responded.
