Kerr Wins Steeplechase in Harry Jerome
BURNABY, British Columbia (AP) _ Canada’s Matt Kerr won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and American Corey Duquette took the 1,500 on Tuesday night in the Harry Jerome International Track Classic.
Kerr finished in 8 minutes, 33 seconds. American Lyle Weese was second in 8:33.14, and countryman Max King was third in 8:37.71.
Duquette won the 1,500 in 3:47.95.
In other events, Canadian Toyin Olupona took the women’s 100 in 11.4, Austria’s John Steffensen won the 400 in 46.36, Chad’s Kaltouma Nadjina took the women’s 400 in 51.44, Haiti’s Moise Joseph won the men’s 800 in 1:49.13, and Canada’s Sarah Esme Alikhan took the women’s race in 2:05.06.
Also, American Tora Harris won the men’s high jump at 6 feet, 10 3/4 inches, China’s Shuing Gao took the women’s pole vault at 14-5 1/2, and American Jesse Roberge won the shot put with a mark of 64-0 1/2.
