Authorities Say Maid Service Was Front for Prostitution
COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) _ Police said they could see right through ads for Lady Godiva Cleaning Service, which offered to send lingerie-clad women to clean homes or offices - day or night.
So they set up a sting and arrested a 44-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl on pandering and prostitution charges.
The company’s newspaper ads and fliers offered ″gorgeous staff, day or evening, home or office, reasonable hourly rates,″ Muscogee County Chief Deputy Jim McLendon said Thursday.
″Common sense tells you something’s not right,″ he said.
The sheriff’s department had a deputy pose as a potential customer.
McLendon said the company’s owner arrived at the deputy’s ″home″ Tuesday with the girl, who allegedly offered sex for a price.
Fred David Levins Sr. of Phenix City, Ala., was charged with felony pandering, and the girl was charged with prostitution and solicitation of sodomy, McLendon said. The girl was turned over to juvenile authorities, and Levins was freed on bond.
