May 12, 2019

Madison had 63 heroin overdoses from January to April, compared to 79 during the same period last year, Police Chief Mike Koval said Saturday.

Ten people have died from heroin overdoses in the city through April this year — seven men and three women — compared to nine in the same period last year, Koval said in his blog.

This April, 11 of 23 reported heroin overdoses occurred in the final five days of the month.
