Serie B club Bologna penalized 1 point for missed wages

February 17, 2015

ROME (AP) — Serie B club Bologna has been penalized one point for failing to pay players and other workers.

The Italian football federation says the penalty stems from missed payments in January, February and March of last year.

New York lawyer Joe Tacopina and Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo purchased Bologna in October.

Also, former Bologna president Albano Guaraldi was banned from football activities for three months.

Bologna dropped seven points behind Carpi but remained second in the Serie B standings.

Also, Nocerina chairman Giovanni Citarella was banned for 3 1/2 years following the abandonment of a derby with Salernitana in November 2013 after fans allegedly issued death threats to players. Nocerina responded by using all three of its substitutions after two minutes and five players then appeared to fake injuries.
