Israel Extends Imported Pork Ban
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Israel’s parliament voted Wednesday to extend a law banning the import of pork.
The ban on the import of non-kosher meat, imposed four years ago, had been about to expire. The Knesset vote passed 66-17 with four abstentions.
It is legal in Israel to buy and sell locally raised pork products, but it is illegal to import the meats, which are forbidden for consumption under Jewish dietary law.
