Monroe's Sydney Hilliard shoots over New Berlin Eisenhower's Olivia Canady in a Division 2 state semifinal at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon earlier this month.

Monroe senior Sydney Hilliard scored 23 points against Chippewa Falls on Thursday at the Middleton Cardinal Showcase basketball tournament, ending the game with 1,621 points and becoming the all-time leading scorer in school history for girls and boys basketball, Monroe girls basketball coach Sam Mathiason said.

Hilliard, a University of Wisconsin commit, surpassed the mark of Dave Grams (class of 1960), who had 1,616 points.

In the same game, Monroe senior Emily Benzschawel scored 15 points, which pushed her career total to 1,000 points.

Benzschawel, who has committed to NCAA Division II Lindenwood University in Missouri, became the fifth Monroe girls basketball player to reach 1,000 points, Mathiason said. The others are Hilliard, Ellie Radke, Jamie Armstrong and Ashley Hermanson.
