December 19, 2018

GLIDE — The Glide girls basketball team only had four players who scored Tuesday night against Days Creek in their nonleague contest.

Senior post Johanna Pope happened to have 33 of those points for the Class 2A Wildcats, leading them to the 53-46 win.

Jazmine Rams added 10 points for the Wildcats (4-3).

Moriah Michaels had 20 points and seven steals for the 1A Wolves (3-6). Kyla Crume had 13 points, nine rebounds and four steals.

The Wolves led 21-11 after the first quarter, but the Wildcats cut the lead down to 30-26 at halftime. Glide led 40-37 after three periods, when the Wolves started to get in foul trouble.

“It was a good game, we knew they’re tough on the inside. We came out playing tough defense,” Days Creek coach Matt Crume said. “We got into some foul trouble, and their girls inside started to score. But overall we’re very happy with how the girls played tonight.”

Days Creek had 31 rebounds in the game.

The Wolves play at Rogue River on Saturday. Glide will meet Bandon in the Oakland Tournament on Dec. 28.
