Second part of Route 25 closure in Monroe coming soon
MONROE — The second of three weekend closures planned for Route 25 is expected to take place next weekend, weather permitting.
From 8 p.m. on Sept. 7 to 6 a.m. on Sept. 10, a stretch of Route 25 in Monroe will be closed to all traffic while improvements continue to be made to the roadway, according to signage posted at the site on Friday.
The first step of the project was delayed three times in August because of inclement weather. But when construction finally got underway, Monroe police said crews made significant progress.
During the first closure of the project, local traffic was detoured to Old Newtown Road and commercial traffic was rerouted to follow route 25 to Route 111 and then Route 34. Thought it was not definitively stated, the same traffic patterns will likely apply during the second round of work.
Theses weekend closures are part of a project to replace two box culverts, work on road repairs and install new drainage and a water main.
Dates for the third planned weekend closure have not yet been released.
