SQUIRRELS VS FARMERS

There’s a bumper crop of squirrels in New England, and the frenetic critters are frustrating farmers by chomping their way through apple orchards, pumpkin patches and corn fields. SHARK ATTACK-CAPE COD

A 26-year-old man who was killed in a shark attack off a Cape Cod beach was an engineering student who loved outdoor activities like surfing and hiking, according to friends. PATRIOTS-JAGUARS

The New England Patriots face the Jacksonville Jaguars in a rematch of last season’s AFC championship game. The Pats overcame a 10-point deficit in the final 9 minutes to win that one, preventing the Jags from making the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. By Mark Long.
