Libyan refugee charged with assault arrested again
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — A woman who made headlines during Libya’s civil war when she said she was raped by Moammar Gadhafi’s troops — and who is now facing assault charges in Colorado — has been arrested for violating the conditions of her bond and probation.
The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/1F5s48Q ) 32-year-old Iman al-Obeidi was arrested in Boulder on Monday after prosecutors say she tested positive for opiates and alcohol. At the time, she was on bond for a pending assault case and on probation stemming from an assault case from 2013.
al-Obeidi, now known as Eman Ali, was granted asylum in the United States in 2011 and settled in Boulder. She’s accused of pouring a beer on a woman and later throwing a glass at her head at a bar. Her trial is scheduled to begin in February.
