Church to serve turkey dinner

DODGE CENTER — St. John Baptist de la Salle Church will host its 26th annual turkey dinner on Sunday.

The meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. following the 10 a.m. Mass. Takeout meals are available.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 10, with preschool children free. All tickets sold at the door.

Other activities planned are a raffle, silent auction, bake sale, kids’ games, quilt raffle and bingo.

The church is at 20 Second St. NE in Dodge Center.

‘See the Lite’ of parish ministry

Nick Mezacapa will present “See the Lite” at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Assisi Heights Spirituality Center, 1001 14th St. NW, in Rochester.

Mezacapa, an ordained Episcopal priest and retired rector of the Calvary Episcopal Church, will discuss how parish ministry is complex and often intense.

However, it is not all sad and painful. Parish clergy are occasionally faced with moments and circumstances that are unbelievably funny.

Cost is $10 preregistered and prepaid, $15 at the door.

Meditation sessions continue

A meditation session will be offered from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. every Tuesday through Dec. 18 at Assisi Heights Spirituality Center.

Meditation is a practice of quieting the mind to bring forth clarity and positivity.

The time will begin with Cathy Ashton or Roxanne Schlasner leading a short guided meditation followed by silence. A bell will ring every 15 minutes allowing you to enter or exit as needed. All spiritual paths are welcome.

Take a tour of St. Marys of the Angels Chapel

WINONA — A tour of St. Mary of the Angels Chapel will be offered 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Completed in 1923, the Chapel of St. Mary of the Angels, has one of the most beautiful Romanesque-Byzantine interiors imaginable.

Cost is $59 preregistered and prepaid. It includes bus transportation, lunch and tour.

‘Conversation with Books’ planned for Thursday

“Conversation with Books” will be offered 2 p.m. Thursday at Assisi Heights Spirituality Center.

You’re invited to join a lively roundtable discussion with avid book readers highlighting books of literary merit. Whether collecting ideas for reading, or simply jump-starting the conversation about recent or great literature, this event is open to all book lovers. Dessert and beverages will be served.

Facilitated by Sister Marlys Jax, the Rochester Franciscan Sisters will be hostesses of this event.

Friends of the Poor Run/Walk set for Sept. 29

The fifth annual Friends of the Poor Walk/Run and Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, at Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Ave. SE, in Rochester.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. begins at Church of the Resurrection.

A free-will pancake breakfast will be served be served at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

A Time for Women to gather for fall retreat

A Time for Women is having a Fall Craft Retreat from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Autumn Ridge Church.

Architectural tour highlights ‘Stories in Stone’

Architectural historian Ken Allsen will present “Stories in Stone – An Architectural Tour” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Assisi Heights Spirituality Center.

Allsen will lead a tour at Assisi Heights, 1001 14th St. NW in Rochester, to see architectural features, aesthetic design aspects and often-overlooked artistic features. Wear walking shoes, as this is an indoor and outdoor event.

St. Pius to celebrate fall festival

St. Pius X Catholic Church will hold its annual two-day fall festival during the weekend of Sept. 29-30.

Saturday’s events include a rummage sale, beer and brats, polka music, Karaoke, a beanbag tournament, and an outdoor movie showing of “Coco.”

Sunday’s events include a Taste of St. Pius, local food vendors, bingo, kids’ games, obstacle course a silent auction and raffles.

HARMONY — The annual Applefest Lunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Harmony United Methodist Church.

The menu includes barbecue and turkey sandwiches, pasta and potato salads, apple pie, apple crisp, coffee, milk and lemonade.

Wilmington Lutheran to host meatball dinner

SPRING GROVE — Wilmington Lutheran Church is hosting a meatball dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7.

The menu includes meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, cranberry relish, assorted salads, desserts, lefse and buns.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children for 6-12, with children younger than 5 are free. Carryouts are available for $10.

The church is located at the intersection of 21068 Church Road and Houston County Road 17 in rural Spring Grove.
