Cops: Man was DUI, speeding near Milford school

MILFORD - Police have arrested a 40-year-old New Haven man after stopping him for allegedly speeding near Live Oaks School around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

After the vehicle was stopped on Merwin Avenue, near Anderson Avenue, an investigation led to the arrest of at Fernando Monter-Aztatzi, of Perkins Street, who is accused of operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Police said Monter-Aztatzi refused to provide a breath or urine sample.

He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating an unregistered vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast, possession of less than half-ounce or marijuana and possession of drug paraphernailia.

Monter-Aztatzi will appear in Milford Superior Court on June 20.
