Volleyball: Pirates, Warriors, Bluejays, L-Cats sweep; Falcons win in four

NEW GLARUS — Katie Kuhl finished with 16 assists and four aces in Waterloo’s 25-7, 25-15, 25-12 Capitol South volleyball win at New Glarus Thursday.

Illinois recruit Brooke Mosher put down 11 kills to go with nine assists and two blocks. Sydney Schonhoff added seven kills while Kamden Fitzgerald served for five aces.

“The team played well tonight with all 13 girls scoring with either a kill or an ace,” Waterloo coach Christy Mosher said. “We missed a few too many serves but otherwise we were pretty efficient hitting, 429 as a team.”

Joslyn Wolff finished with 10 digs and Michaela Riege chipped in with nine. Waterloo (8-2, 3-0 South), ranked third in Division 3 by the WVCA, faces a brutal field at Saturday’s Brookfield Central Invitational.

Neenah and Arrowhead, the top two teams in Division 1, lead a field with half of the top 10 in Division 1 and East Troy, which is ranked second in Division 2. The Pirates are the only Division 3 team in the field.



LODI — Ella Collins registered 11 kills and Amanda Miller added nine in Lakeside Lutheran’s 25-16, 25-23, 25-19 Capitol North volleyball win at Lodi Thursday.

Kylee Gnabasik came up with 23 digs and three aces to lead the Warriors.

Grace Westrate finished with 16 assists and Kaylee Raymond added a dozen.

Lakeside (8-6, 2-0 North) heads to Saturday’s Kettle Moraine Lutheran Invitational.

The Warriors, ranked 10th in Division 2 by the WVCA, will join a field with half of Division 2’s top 10 teams, including top-ranked Catholic Memorial.


POYNETTE — Junior Tatum Riggleman struck for five aces to go with 24 digs as Lake Mills swept past host Poynette, 25-13, 25-14, 25-10, in Thursday’s Capitol North volleyball match.

Grace Schopf led the L-Cats with 11 kills and Calla Borchert provided seven.

Freshman Sydney Lewellin dished out 27 assists for Lake Mills (8-2, 2-1 North), which heads to Saturday’s Brodhead Invitational.


PALMYRA — Johnson Creek swept Palmyra-Eagle 25-14, 25-11, 26-24 in a Trailways South volleyball match on Tuesday.

Kittana Kulig, Maiya Benner and Rylie Thomas each had six kills for the Bluejays. Kenadie LaSage put up 21 assists. Bella Herman and Brooke Joseph each had four digs. Benner served six aces.

Johnson Creek (1-1 in conference) hosts Wayland Academy and Cambria-Friesland in a triangular on Saturday at 9 a.m.


HORICON — Hustisford’s volleyball team defeated Horicon 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-10 in a Trailways East match on Thursday.

Alisha Peplinski had 13 kills, 14 digs and four blocks while Cassidy Ewert added six kills and 27 digs for the Falcons. Allison Noll put up 22 assists and added 17 digs. Kelsey Ewert added 20 digs.

Hustisford (8-4, 2-0 in conference) hosts Williams Bay on Tuesday.
