Volleyball | JM impressive in tournament

ST. MICHAEL — John Marshall finished a solid 3-2 on Saturday in the St. Michael/Albertville Midwest Fall Classic, giving Rockets coach Jessica Stellmaker her 100th win at JM en route.

JM beat Cambridge-Isanti 25-21, 25-10; St. Paul Academy 25-21, 25-23; Bemidji 11-25, 26-24, 15-8. The Rockets lost to Minneapolis Southwest 23-25, 25-18, 15-13 and Wayzata 25-17, 25-14.

“It was a great weekend for JM,” Stellmaker said. “It was a big tournament with some really good teams.”

The Rockets were led by Katilyn Steffes with 37 kills, 39 digs, 4 blocks and 4 aces. Allyssa Ihde had 19 kills, 12 digs, 4 blocks and 4 aces; and Chayse Paulson had 80 assists, 5 kills, 17 digs, 1 block and 9 aces. Paulson, a sophomore, is set to notch her 1,000th set assist this week.

JM is 11-7 overall. It travels to play powerhouse Northfield on Monday.
