Residents warned of disruptions during NBA All-Star weekend

January 31, 2019

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Residents in North Carolina’s largest city are being warned of disruptions to public transit and other changes as the NBA All-Star Game festivities get underway.

The Charlotte Observer reports officials in Charlotte are telling people not to travel downtown area if they don’t need to. Those who do should anticipate heavy foot and vehicle traffic during the week and weekend of the game, which is scheduled for Feb. 17.

An estimated 150,000 visitors are expected to descend on Charlotte.

Among the changes is the move of the Charlotte Transportation Center adjacent to Spectrum Center, the site of the game. The transportation hub will be relocated to the surface parking lot across from the Seventh Street Station parking deck. Charlotte Area Transit System says the relocation is for security reasons.
