Midland library plans Fake News Panel Discussion

September 20, 2018

Centennial Library, 2503 W. Loop 250 North in Midland will host a Fake News Panel Discussion from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25.

Banned Books Week is an annual awareness campaign promoted by the American Library Association and its Office of Intellectual Freedom.

It celebrates the freedom to read, view, and listen to ideas of all kinds even those that some consider dangerous, unorthodox, or unpopular.

Banned Books Week is about more than just books. It is about freedom of expression in all mediums and news journalism has been challenged strongly in recent months, a news release said.

Panelists include: KMID Big 2 Morning Anchor Channing Curtis; Odessa American Executive Editor Laura Dennis; Midland Reporter-Telegram Editor Stewart Doreen and CBS 7 KOSA News Director Scott Pickey.

It will be moderated by library director John Trischitti III.
