One injured in apparent drive-by shooting
KANKAKEE — A man was shot while walking in the area of East Bourbonnais Street and South Lincoln Avenue on Sunday.
According to a report, an officer was dispatched to Riverside Medical Center at 8:20 a.m. in regard to a victim being treated in the emergency room for a gunshot wound to his upper right chest near his armpit.
He was treated and released, Investigations Commander for Kankakee Police Dave Skelly said.
The victim did not know what time it occurred. He said he was walking, and he heard four shots. A car was near him and appeared to be following him, but he didn’t remember much else.
Skelly said the shooting could possibly related to other shots fired at 2:57 a.m. Sunday in the area of South Indiana Avenue and East River Street.
Witnesses said they heard several shots and believed more than one gun was being discharged.
They saw two black male subjects running north in the 500 block of South Indiana. The subjects got into a vehicle in the 300 block of East Bourbonnais Street that took off at a high rate of speed with no headlights on heading east. They continued shooting.
Two shell casings were found at the corner of South Indiana and East Bourbonnais.
