Man arrested 3 years after pedestrian struck and killed
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — A tip from a Kitsap County Jail inmate has led to the arrest of a suspect in a South Kitsap fatal hit-and-run in 2015.
The Kitsap Sun reports the inmate told investigators he had struggled with his conscience over witnessing the incident.
The Washington State Patrol had been investigating the death of 64-year-old Chris Lukkasson. She was found Oct. 14, 2015, severely injured on the roadway.
She was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she died.
Following the tip, investigators arrested 49-year-old Zosimo Aguada Thursday at his Bremerton house.
Court documents say Aguada said he had used intoxicants and that he had stopped to look at a house and when he left, instead of driving forward, he backed up and accidentally struck Lukkasson.
He has been charged with hit and run resulting in death.
