HUSTISFORD — Maxwell Klawitter scored on an error in the top of the seventh inning and that proved to be the deciding run as the Lebanon Whitetails defeated the Neosho Rockets 4-3 in a Rock River League play-in game on Wednesday night at Firemen’s Park.
Klawitter led off the inning with a walk, advanced to third on a bunt by Lucas Schramm and scored when Cameron Schuett reached on an error.
Lebanon broke a scoreless tie with a three-run rally in the top of the fourth inning.
Schuett led off with a walk, Tyler Doyle and Brice Parrish singled and Noah Zubke followed with a two-run single to right. Bryce Schuett singled and Kevin Firari walked to load the bases and Louis Demotropoulos drew a bases loaded walk to make it 3-0.
Neosho rallied with two unearned runs in the fifth. Jake Bickert and Jordan DeBoer each singled, Robby Proehl walked to load the bases and two runs scored when Travis Wessels reached on an error.
DeBoer doubled and later scored in the seventh to make it a one-run game, but the Rockets went down in order in the eighth and squandered a leadoff walk in the ninth.
