INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) _ Newly acquired guard Terry Teagle scored 21 points and James Worthy added 20 Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 129-106 in an exhibition game.

Maccabi, Israel’s premier basketball team, stayed within striking range of the Lakers for the first three quarters.

Maccabi trailed only 90-83 when Donald Royal made a pair of free throws to open the fourth quarter. But Teagle scored 12 points and A.C. Green added six as the Lakers outscored Tel Aviv 22-4 over the next seven minutes to take a 112-87 advantage.

Teagle, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, shook off a 2-for-7 first-half shooting performance and made seven of eight-field goal attempts in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers hope Teagle, a high-scoring veteran acquired from Golden State during the offseason, can provide them scoring punch off the bench this season. Royal, who played his college ball at Notre Dame, scored 33 points to lead Tel Aviv, and Ed Horton, who played last season for the NBA’s Washington Bullets, added 25.

Israeli team captain Doron Jamshi added 14 points, and Nadav Henefeld, a former University of Connecticut player, had 10.

Los Angeles dominated the boards throughout the contest, outrebounding Maccabi 70-33. Green had 17 rebounds.
