The Hopelands Concert Series will be held Mondays through June. The Aiken Brass will perform at 6:30 p.m. today at the Roland H. Windham Performing Arts Stage at Hopelands Gardens, 135 Dupree Place. Lawn chairs and blankets may be brought, as well as picnic dinners, non-alcoholic beverages and well-behaved pets on leashes. Guests can park at the Green Boundary Club, 780 Whiskey Road. Handicap parking is available at the Rye Patch parking lot on Berrie Road and the Hopelands Gardens parking lot. In case of inclement weather, the performances will be moved to H. The Aiken County Republican Club will meet Tuesday at Newberry Hall, 117 Newberry St. Registration/social time will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch t noon. The guest speaker will be John Warren, S.C. candidate for governor. The cost is $18 for members and $23 for non-members. Payment is due at the door. A Guardian ad Litem Program training session for Aiken County will begin today. Each session runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and will meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks at the Aiken County Office of the Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Program, 5170 Woodside Executive Park. Those interested in the training must be at least 21 years old, pass background and reference checks, and successfully complete the free, 30-hour training. The Roll Foundation Golf Tournament will be held today at the Woodside Plantation Country Club, 1000 Woodside Plantation Drive. The USC Aiken Wind Ensemble will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. today in the Etheredge Center on the campus of USC AIken, 471 University Parkway. The program will include works by Donald Grantham, Kurt Weill, Darius Milhaud and Leonard Bernstein, among others. The performance will also feature guest USCA faculty artist Lauren Meccia. The ensemble is conducted by Hayes Bunch. Admission is $10 per person, and free to students.

Registration begins at 6 p.m. with the presentation at 7:30 p.m. Brandon Hodges, principal engineer for Defense Waste Processing Facility/Savannah River Remediation will be the guest speaker. His topic will be the Replacement of Melter 2 and the DWPF. The cost is $25 per person, $22 for retirees, $20 for students and $30 at the door. The Aiken Mid-Day Lions will hold its 23rd annual Luncheon, Fashion Show and Silent Auction from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Newberry Hall, 117 Newberry St. S.W. This year’s theme is Century of Services, and will feature designs from Vikkis of Aiken. All proceeds will help fund club programs. Tickets are $35 per person.
