Navy 78, Gettysburg 64

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) _ Michael Heary scored 28 points Monday to lead Navy to a 78-64 victory over Gettysburg.

The Eagles trailed by only two points at halftime and were within six with 13 minutes remaining. But Navy put the game away with a 19-5 run.

Gettysburg (5-2), a Division II team, was playing its only Division I opponent of the season.

Navy (6-2) opened an early 11-2 lead and was ahead 37-24 with 2:51 left in the opening half. But the Eagles scored 11 straight points before halftime.

A 3-pointer by Scott Hildenbrand at 18:25 of the second half gave Gettysburg its only lead of the night, 38-37.

Heary answered with a 3-pointer at 18:05 and Navy never trailed again. The Midshipmen stretched their lead to 52-44 at 14:06 on a 3-pointer by Terrell Hickman _ who finished with 13.

A pair of baskets by Gettysburg’s Ryan Napp cut the margin to 52-48 at 12:59, but eight answered points _ four from Hassan Booker and a basket each by Heary and Matt Sladky _ broke things open.

Sladky backed up Heary and Hickmon with 12 points for Navy. Paul Howard and Dave Sowers each scored 11 for the Eagles, while Napp had 10.
