MIAMI (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed and three others were injured when an SUV they were riding in crashed on Florida's Turnpike.

A Florida Highway Patrol news release says the crash occurred Friday morning in Miami-Dade County.

FHP says an SUV was traveling north the Turnpike when it hit a guardrail for unknown reasons. The release says 35-year-old Yamilca Cisnero de Vazquez, 60-year-old Maria Ines Suss and a three-year-old boy were ejected. The two women died at the scene, while the boy, the 33-year-old woman who was driving the SUV and a 59-year-old male passenger were airlifted to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
