Attempted murder suspect admits domestic battery in separate case
A Fort Wayne man charged with trying to kill two men in September pleaded guilty today to beating a woman in a separate case.
Gabriel Hicks, 30, was arrested after police say grabbed his wife by the throat, choked her and then punched her Dec. 22. He pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court to domestic battery and strangulation and could be ordered next month to spent a year in prison, according to a plea agreement.
Hicks was arrested in Indianapolis in October for allegedly shooting two men Sept. 21 at Link’s Wonderland on Creighton Avenue. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder in that case, and a status conference is scheduled next week.
Attempted murder carries a penalty of up to 40 years in prison, and prosecutors have also charged him as a habitual offender : a designation that could add more time behind bars.
