Smash Mouth guy is coming to town to sing Smash Mouth songs alone

January 10, 2019

Steve Harwell, frontman of Smash Mouth, is coming to Lincoln next month.

On Feb. 22, Harwell and his band will play Lincoln’s Royal Grove, bringing Smash Mouth hits and some of Harwell’s solo material.

Why isn’t he touring with Smash Mouth?

It’s not clear.

The band hasn’t broken up. It’s likely Harwell is simply headed out for a tour without the rest of the band.

Harwell and bassist Paul de Lisle have been the band’s only consistent members since its formation in 1994. Guitarist Greg Camp rejoined the band last year after a few years away, and the band released a re-recorded acoustic version of its 1997 debut, “Fush Yu Mang.” The band also released a new single, “Unity,” featuring DMC and Kool Keith.

Though most people know Smash Mouth’s “All Star” and “Walking on the Sun” and that “I’m a Believer” cover that was in “Shrek,” Harwell does have solo material, like this song that was in a NASCAR video.

Tickets, $25, are on sale now at etix.com.
