NORFOLK, Va. (AP) _ Nyree Roberts scored 19 points and the 1,000th of her career and Clarisse Machanguana had 26 Tuesday night, leading second-ranked Old Dominion to an 88-43 win over East Carolina.

Roberts broke the 1,000 mark on a layup five minutes into the 40th straight conference victory for Old Dominion (24-1, 14-0 Colonial Athletic Association). She also had eight rebounds.

East Carolina (9-15, 4-10) was held without a point for four minutes as Old Dominion went on a 13-0 run to build a 44-19 halftime lead and deprive East Carolina coach Anne Donovan of a chance to beat her alma mater. The former Olympian was on the Lady Monarchs’ national championship squad in 1979-80.

Old Dominion outrebounded East Carolina 39-27 and forced the Lady Pirates into 38 turnovers.

Aubrey Eblin added 12 points for Old Dominion, including three 3-pointers to tie a school career record.

Senior Ticha Penicheiro had 12 assists and 12 steals in her final home-court appearance of the regular season. She entered the game tied with Michigan State’s Tamika Matlock with 8.1 assists per game.

It also was the last regular-season home game for ODU starters Machanguana and Stacy Himes, and reserve center Angie Liston. They were honored in a ceremony before the game.

East Carolina was led by Justine Allpress, with 12 points.
