LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Pecorelli, Wilkes Top FDU-Florham
Wilkes jumped out to a huge lead in the first half and rolled to a 96-53 win over FDU-Florham on Friday.
The Colonels went on a 23-2 run in the first half and built a 53-27 lead by halftime.
Rob Pecorelli hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 22 points, one of five Colonels scoring in double figures.
Mark Mullins and Tommy Bowen added 14 points, Connor Evans 11 and Marcus Robinson 10.
Bowen also had six rebounds and six assists.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre 77, Penn State DuBois 67
DaVaughn Roberts had 17 points and nine rebounds in PSU Wilkes-Barre’s road win on Friday, keeping the team unbeaten in the PSUAC (10-0).
Maddie Kelley poured in 27 points, Gab Giodano had a double-double and Wilkes held off FDU-Florham down the stretch for an 83-78 win on Friday.
Giordano finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Ashley Caster added 19 points for the Colonels (6-10, 2-4 MAC) and Gabby Smicherko added 13 points.
Penn State DuBois 71, Penn State Wilkes-Barre 53
At DuBois, Giana Skaff had 17 points and seven rebounds and Sheila Carr scored 15 for PSU Wilkes-Barre in a losing effort on Friday.
For the second straight game, a late burst lifted Wilkes to win.
Two days after erasing a four-goal deficit to Lebanon Valley, the Colonels came back from two goals down against the Dutchmen, winning 6-4 on Friday.
Phil Erickson and Donald Flynn each scored twice for Wilkes with Michael Gurska and Devon Schell also adding goals.
Wilkes got a goal from Cally Erickson on Friday but couldn’t slow down Lebanon Valley in a 4-1 home loss.
Laurenne Fraser and Shauna Tubbs had assists for Wilkes. Ally Joly made 34 saves.
