August 30, 2000

NEW YORK (AP) _ Get ready for questions about The Kiss.

Vice President Al Gore has accepted an invitation to appear on the ``Late Show″ with David Letterman on Sept. 14.

The Democratic presidential candidate will undoubtedly be asked about his convention lip-lock with his wife, Tipper. The ``Late Show″ has repeatedly run taped footage of the lengthy kiss.

It will be Gore’s first appearance with Letterman since they both donned eye goggles in 1993 to watch Gore smash ashtrays with a hammer.

Letterman has invited Gore and Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush to debate on his show. The two haven’t agreed to do this.

Bush’s office has promised an answer within the week on whether he will appear on the show _ with or without Gore, CBS spokeswoman Rosemary Keenan said.

Bush appeared on the ``Late Show″ on March 1.
