Man indicted in strangulation death of woman found in lake
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — A man accused of strangling a woman whose body was found in the lake of a northern New Jersey park earlier this year has been indicted on murder charges.
Hudson County prosecutors say 33-year-old Jorge Rios, of Jersey City, is also charged with felony murder, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault in the indictment handed up Wednesday by a county grand jury.
The charges stem from the death of 45-year-old Carolina Cano, whose body was found March 24 at Lincoln Park in Jersey City. An autopsy determined that the Jersey City resident died from “homicidal violence” that included strangulation and water submersion.
It wasn’t known Wednesday if Rios has retained an attorney.
