Boys soccer: United, Eagles, L-Cats post wins

September 22, 2018

LOMIRA — Nicholas Blome scored twice and Seth Hayden scored once in the second half to rally Husitsford/Dodgeland United to a 3-2 nonconference win over Lomira on Thursday.

Lomira led 1-0 at halftime on Kaleb Weston’s unassisted goal in the 34th minute. HD United tied it in the 53rd minute on Hayden’s goal. Blome scored the go-head goal off an assist from Brady Held in the 58th minute, then scored again on a free kick in the 69th minute.

“We had a super game tonight against Lomira,” HD United coach Scott Blome said. “We went into the half losing 1-0, but then the hustle and determination to win the ball finally paid off tonight for the H/D United team. The first goal started from the midfielder Luke Knutson and passed to Nicholas Blome, who then crossed it from the corner and Seth Hayden, who finished it in the back of the net.

“The next goal was started from the goalie Brady Held who kicked it up to the center of the field and Nicholas Blome ran between two defenders to take the ball into the 18 box and slid it into the net just passing the Lomira goalie. The third goal came from a free kick that Nicholas Blome put into the upper corner just above the goalie’s hands.”

Held made eight saves for HD United, which outshot Lomira 14-6. H/D United (2-10) plays at Lodi Thursday.
