Woman Gets 180 Days in Jail for Attacking Daughter’s Teacher
SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (AP) _ A mother who attacked a kindergarten teacher after her 5-year-old daughter complained of being scolded was sentenced to six months in jail.
Benita McCrae, 30, of North Hollywood had earlier pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge for allegedly grabbing 64-year-old Marjan Swantek around the neck and slamming her against a wall on Oct. 3.
In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a battery charge.
Superior Court Judge John Major sentenced McCrae on Tuesday to six months in jail and placed her on four years’ probation. She faced up to one year in jail under terms of the plea agreement.
McCrae’s daughter has been placed in the custody of the Department of Children’s Services.
