Resource providers to connect with community leaders next week

December 5, 2018

A dozen resource providers are expected to attend an information session next week to connect Gage County community leaders with agencies that provide technical or financial assistance related to community facilities and other development projects.

The providers are responding to community priorities identified by Gage County residents over the past several months.

The information session will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Jackson Conference Hall at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. Community leaders from throughout the county are invited to drop in anytime during that two-hour period.

Resource providers planning to attend have expertise in business development and entrepreneurship, housing grant and loan programs, hiking, biking and running trails, community centers, workforce development, wind energy and economic development, a press release stated.

Earlier this year, regional community town hall meetings were held throughout the county to solicit ideas for facility improvements or other community and economic development projects. The session on Dec. 12 is rescheduled from early November, when weather forced postponement.

These meetings are organized by the Heartland Center for Leadership Development in collaboration with the NGage economic development group and University of Nebraska Extension, as part of a project funded by USDA Rural Development.
