Squirrel blamed for Normal power outage
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — A squirrel that ran into a substation is being blamed for a power outage that affected about 4,000 homes and businesses in Normal.
Wednesday morning’s outage affected about 7 percent of Ameren Illinois’ customers in McLean County.
Authorities tell The (Bloomington) Pantagraph that (http://bit.ly/16QzGIj ) the outage began around 5 a.m.
Crews are working to turn the power back on, but by mid-morning, about 3,900 Ameren customers were still in the dark.
