Billerica, Dracut Claim Wins; Lowell Bests Rival Lawrence

Emma O’Leary and Isabella Tassone scored 1 goal each while lifting Billerica past Methuen, 2-0, in a Merrimack Valley Conference girls soccer game.

O’Leary, a senior striker, has been on a goal-scoring tear of late, netting 5 goals in the Indians’ past three games.

Danielle Flaherty (defense) and Emily Ferri (midfield) played well for Billerica (2-2-2).

Campbell Brown scored Chelmsford’s goal with an assist from Carly Robinson.

Kate Krueger played well in goal for the Lions.

On Tuesday, Chelmsford blanked Lawrence, 8-0. Hannah Polce paced the offense with 2 goals, while Krueger posted the shutout in goal.

Meghan Stagnone, Robinson, Phoebe Kimera, Ashlynn LoCoco, Meghan Goode and Emma Hatch tallied 1 goal each.

During a game played at UMass Lowell, the host Red Raiders notched the Merrimack Valley Conference shutout.

Kaleigh Dunham, Annie Chase and Jenna Lowell tallied the goals for Lowell (1-3-1). Christina Grillakis set up Dunham’s strike, while Shyanne Greene assisted on Lowell’s goal.

Sacha Pelosky scored the only goal of the DCL game off of an assist from Carly Davey during the third minute to lift Westford.

Westford held a 22-2 shots advantage, but couldn’t score again. Playing well in the midfield were the Grey Ghosts (3-2) were Bella Hillman, Grace Stickel and Sacha Pelosky. Playing well at forward were Mary Cadogan and Isabel Doherty. Staying strong on defense were Carol Sawrey and Mel Almasian. Mya Barber-Mingo had 2 saves.

Brenna Thirkell had a strong game on defense for Tyngsboro (2-4). Maya Puma made 16 saves in goal for the Tigers.

Groton-Dunstable 2

Shrewsbury 0

Freshman Jackie Gervais pocketed her third varsity goal to spark the Crusaders to victory in Shrewsbury.

It was the first win for Groton-Dunstable (1-3), which received goals from Nicole Tammaro and Gervais. Assists were picked up by Abby Eisenklam and Jillian Van Pelt. Bianca Resca made 12 saves to record the shutout.

Central Catholic 2

Lizzie Dankert and Adrianna Niles of Tewksbury scored 1 goal each while leading the way on offense for Central Catholic.

Mary Gerard (2 saves) notched the win in goal for the Raiders (2-1).
