UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers picked up a starting second baseman and a reliever just before Tuesday’s non-waiver trade deadline, getting Brian Dozier from Minnesota and John Axford from Toronto. The Twins received for infielder Logan Forsythe and two minor leaguers for Dozier, who is batting .224 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs this season. Axford was picked up for minor league pitcher Corey Cropping after going 4-1 with a 4.41 ERA in 45 games for the Blue Jays this year.

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Miami Marlins for minor league infielder Bryson Brigman and international slot money. Maybin is batting .251 with three homers and 20 RBIs in 99 games this season, but he’s batting .329 with a .912 OPS since June 29. He is expected to be the center field replacement for Guillermo Heredia, who is hitting .229 with a .314 on-base percentage and 22 runs scored.

UNDATED (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates were buyers at the trade deadline, getting starting pitcher Chris Archer from Tampa Bay for a pair of coveted prospects in outfielder Austin Meadows and pitcher Tyler Glasnow plus a player to be named. Archer is a two-time All-Star who is 3-5 with a 4.31 ERA in 17 starts for the Rays this season. Pittsburgh also acquired Texas closer Keone Kela for left-handed pitching prospect Taylor Hearn and a player to be named.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have put ace Chris Sale on the disabled list with left shoulder inflammation, leaving them without their top pitcher for the upcoming series against the New York Yankees. Sale is leading the majors with 204 strikeouts and owns a major league-leading 2.04 ERA. The lefty is 5-0 in his last six starts and hasn’t given up a run in his last three outings.

UNDATED (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Vikings and wide receiver Stefon Diggs have agreed to a five-year, $72 million contract extension. Diggs has yet to post a 1,000-yard or 100-catch season, but his ability was on full display when he made the 61-yard touchdown reception on the game’s final play to lift the Vikings to victory over New Orleans in last season’s playoffs. He had 64 receptions for 849 yards and eight TDs in 2017.
