DENVER (AP) _ The Denver Nuggets signed second-year guard Darnell Mee and former University of Wyoming forward Reggie Slater on Tuesday.
Mee, a second-round pick by Golden State in 1993, was acquired by Denver for Josh Grant, the Nuggets’ second-round choice that year.
Mee averaged 1.8 points in 38 games last year.
PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) - Horst Siegl scored three goals as the Czech Republic routed Malta 6-1 Tuesday in a qualifying game for the 1996 European soccer Championship.
Siegl scored in the 35th and 49th minutes off corner kicks from Pavel Kuka and connected in the 81st off a pass from Kuka.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - One week after the Minnesota Timberwolves hired Bill Blair as their new head coach, the team on Tuesday announced the addition of assistant coach Mike Schuler.
Schuler, 53, an assistant with the Sacramento Kings last season, spent three seasons as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers and two more with the Los Angeles Clippers, compiling a 179-159 overall record.
NEW YORK (AP) - Mark Osborne, who played for the New York Rangers for 3 seasons in the mid-1980s, has re-signed with the Stanley Cup champions as an unrestricted free agent.
Osborne, 33, had nine goals and 15 assists last season for Toronto. In 13 seasons, Osborne has 211 goals and 316 assists.
BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Celtics picked Seattle Mariners’ executive Kevin Martinez as the team’s director of promotions and special events.
Martinez, a 28-year-old New Jersey native, will be responsible for all Celtics game-related promotions and special events.
He held the same position with the Mariners for four years, where he concentrated on in-park entertainment.
FAR HILLS, N.J. (AP) - Defending champion Sarah LeBrun Ingram is one of five former winners entered in the 1994 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Golf Championship, which will be played Sept. 10-15, at Tacoma (Wash.) Country and Golf Club.
Ingram also won the tournament in 1991.
Other former champions in the field are Martha Lang (1988), Marion Maney- McInerney (1992), Carol Semple Thompson (1990), and Robin Weiss.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Veterans of Foreign Wars took over sponsorship of the Seniors PGA tour stop here.
The VFW, headquartered in Kansas City, assumes sponsorship from Southwestern Bell. The tournament will be renamed the VFW Senior Championship.
The purse was increased from $700,000 to $900,000 for the event Aug. 1-6, 1995.
The tournament benefits Crittenton, an organization that provides mental health care and preventive services for children, teens and families in the Kansas City area.
