Music Box Theater presents ‘Keep It Brassy 2’
The Music Box Theater is bringing back the horns once again for its second concert cabaret, “Keep it Brassy 2,” which opens Sept. 8 and plays through Oct. 13. The all-new show builds on the success of last year’s “Keep it Brassy.”
This concert experience features the incredible vocals of The Music Box 5 backed up by house band G Sharp and the MBT 3. And, for this concert, it’s G Sharp and the MBT 3 Plus Three — extra horns to help “Keep it Brassy 2.” Regulars Glenn Sharp (musical director and keyboard), Mark McCain (guitar), Long Le (bass) and James Metcalfe (percussion) will be joined by Mike Adamcik (reed instruments), Louis Sanchez (trombone) and Vaughan Pederson (trumpet).
The show will include “Dream a Little Dream” (Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong), “Hallelujah, I Love Her So” (Ray Charles), “Rehab” (Amy Winehouse), “Beginnings” (Chicago) and “Tell Her About It” (Billy Joel). Songs will be interspersed with the usual Music Box shenanigans to help ensure that audiences have fun.
Performances for shows are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays throughout the run. There also will be Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on Sept. 23 and Oct. 7. Tickets for each show are $39 for reserved seating and $29 for general admission and are available online at www.themusicboxtheater.com or by calling (713) 522-7722.
The Music Box Theater’s cabaret is at 2623 Colquitt in the heart of Upper Kirby. This storied venue was the original home of Radio Music Theater. The Music Box Theater opened its doors in May 2011.
Wine, beer and snacks are available.
