Highlanders to play Hurricane boys for MSAC soccer title
HUNTINGTON — Huntington High is scheduled to visit defending state champion Hurricane at 7 p.m. Thursday for the Mountain State Athletic Conference boys soccer championship.
The Highlanders enter the contest No. 2 in the league based on regular-season competition. The Redskins are top-seeded.
In other boys MSAC action, No. 4 Parkersburg plays at No. 3 George Washington, sixth-seeded Woodrow Wilson visits No. 5 Cabell Midland, No. 8 Spring Valley goes to seventh-seeded Capital, No. 10 Riverside plays at No. 9 South Charleston, and 11th seed St. Albans plays at No. 12 Ripley. All those games are at 6 p.m. Thursday, except for those at Ripley and Capital that begin at 7:30 p.m.
In the girls tournament, all games take place Thursday, with the headliner being No. 2 Hurricane at No. 1 George Washington at 6 p.m. Defending state champion Cabell Midland, seeded fourth, plays at No. 3 seed Parkersburg, No. 6 Woodrow Wilson visits No. 5 Huntington High, eighth-seeded Spring Valley plays at No. 7 South Charleston, No. 10 St. Albans is at ninth-seeded Capital, and No. 11 Riverside goes to No. 12 Ripley. All games are at 6 p.m., except for those at Capital and Ripley that begin at 5:30 p.m.
