RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) _ Brazilians lined up Monday to buy tickets hoping to win this country’s biggest lottery prize ever.

After nine weeks without a winner, the Megassena lottery has accumulated a grand prize of $31 million.

The odds of winning the prize, which requires the winner to select six numbers in the same order that they are drawn, are estimated at 50 million to one.

The prospect has thrilled millions of Brazilians in this country currently suffering through high unemployment and recession.

Lottery officials expect to sell some 70 million tickets for Sunday’s drawing.
