MRS. DORIS JEAN NEPUTE, 83, passed away in Merry Wood Lodge at Elmore, Alabama, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Counts officiating. Burial will follow in Pine View Memorial Gardens. Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband, US Army Colonel John A. Nepute. Doris is survived by her sons, Jonathan (Kyong) Nepute, James Nepute, William Nepute and Thomas (Pat) Nepute; brother, Ronald (Loxie) Nance of Huntington W.Va.; sister-in-law, Anita (June) Anderson; grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, Elizabeth and Katherine Nepute; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was born and raised in Huntington, W.Va., and graduated from Huntington East High School. She became an Army wife and later an Army mother for the 60 years between her marriage and her death, praying for and worrying about her husband and three military sons through their numerous combat deployments. Doris moved with her husband and sons to stateside assignments in Dayton, Ohio, Detroit, Mich., St. Louis, Mo., and San Antonio, Texas, as well as overseas assignments in Taiwan and the Republic of South Korea. Doris and John retired to Wetumpka, Alabama, in 1991, where they enjoyed over 25 years of country living, the love and friendship of their neighbors and church family, the joy of being grandparents and rooting for Auburn football.
