Milton Will Miss Start for Twins

June 21, 2000

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Minnesota Twins left-hander Eric Milton will skip his next start after being hit in his throwing hand during batting practice Tuesday.

Milton (6-2, 5.06 ERA) was scheduled to start the series finale of Minnesota’s three-game series at Texas on Thursday.

Twins manager Tom Kelly said X-rays revealed no broken bones.

``That’s the good news for the day,″ Kelly said after the Twins lost 5-2 at Texas on Tuesday night.

While Milton will skip his start, Kelly said he still plans for the pitcher to throw on the side Thursday.

Right-hander Joe Mays (3-9, 5.72 ERA) will move up a day to start Thursday instead of Friday night. Jason Ryan, a right-hander recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Salt Lake City, will replace Mays for the opener of the three-game series at Anaheim, making his first start of the season.
