Driver arrested after crashing into vehicles during chase

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — State police say a man who drove the wrong way on Interstate 91 and crashed into at least three police cruisers and three other vehicles during a chase in the New Haven area has been taken into custody.

Troopers and New Haven police responded Monday afternoon to reports of a vehicle being driven northbound in the southbound lanes. Officials say the vehicle traveled from New Haven into Wallingford, then the suspect turned around and drove in the correct direction back toward New Haven.

Police say the suspect’s vehicle collided with at least three state police cruisers and three civilian vehicles. Authorities reported there were minor injuries and one person was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

New Haven police took the man into custody. His name has not been released.
