Minnesota-made movie opens Friday
A feature movie filmed in Minnesota opens Friday at the Marcus Rochester Cinema, 4340 Maine Ave. SE.
”Farmer of the Year,” which was filmed in Tyler, Minn., was written and directed by Kathy Swanson and Vince O’Connell. Swanson is a native of Tyler, and the film was shot largely on the farm on which she was reared.
The movie stars Barry Corbin as a widowed 83-year-old farmer who decides to take a road trip to a military reunion in California. He is accompanied by his granddaughter Ashley. Swanson describes her movie as a “coming of aging” story.
“Farmer of the Year” will be shown six times daily this Labor Day weekend at Marcus theater.
